Hableány is in the middle of Badacsony at Park utca 26, close to the railway, the harbour and the beach. The first inn opened here in 1883, and the writer Mór Jókai stayed in it. The Laposa family bought it in 2014 and reopened it in 2019: today it’s a bistro, wine bar, wine shop and working winery in one, with wall-to-wall glass and barrels on the terrace.
Bistro and wine
The kitchen builds on Hungarian and Balaton foundations, but with tidy bistro plates. The best introduction is catfish paprikash with cottage-cheese pasta, but there’s also skin-on zander, confit duck leg and slow-cooked beef cheek with smoky celeriac purée and truffle potato doughnuts. For dessert, quark dumplings, strudel or a seasonal plate.
The full Laposa range is available on site, and the staff help with pairings: Badacsony Olaszrizling, Kéknyelű, Szürkebarát. Booked in advance, there are winery tours and tastings too; you can see the tanks from the dining room anyway.
The place
A bright, lively, modern wine-country feel, with a big terrace. There’s a kids’ menu and a vegetarian main, and dogs are welcome. The house also keeps a local history exhibition.
Good to know
Only open Thursday to Sunday, and the kitchen closes at 20:00. Prices are above average, a 12.5% service charge is added, and one person with drinks comes to around 9–16 thousand HUF. On summer weekends it’s noisy and busy, and nearby car parks fill quickly.
Who it’s for
Anyone who wants to understand today’s wine-focused Badacsony in one stop. Quietest on Thursday or Friday, right after opening.
The person behind the place
The Laposas' Hableány
The Laposa family bought Hableány in 2014, opened KisHableány Bistro on its terrace in 2015 and began a full renovation in 2018. The house reopened in spring 2019 as a bistro, wine bar, wine shop, showcase winery and the estate's centre.

Catfish paprikash with cottage-cheese pasta
A familiar Hungarian dish with Balaton fish on a bistro plate. Especially good with a glass of Laposa white.
Local tip
Book a tasting too
If you have time, book a winery tour and tasting in advance with your lunch. That way the story behind the tanks comes together.
