frissTerasz is in Badacsony at Kisfaludy út 1–3, at the foot of the hill between the vineyards and the lake, and belongs to the Laposa estate. Sun loungers, parasols, colourful tables; relaxing during the day, music and DJs on weekend evenings. Not a restaurant in the classic sense, but a relaxed terrace hangout with burgers and wine.
Burgers and wine
The star is the smash burger, with the patty pressed on a hot plate until the edges caramelise. The Brutál Badacsony comes with three patties, cheddar, smoked cheese and bacon; the Másnap a hegyen („Morning after on the hill”) with jalapeño and a fried egg. On the side, loaded fries, and to finish, churros with cinnamon. Meat-free there’s a chickpea Vega Burger or the Terasz salad with grilled goat’s cheese.
To drink, order Laposa wines. When we checked, a Friss Burger was 4,050 HUF, the Dokk & Cheese fries 2,150 HUF and a glass of Friss Olaszrizling 750 HUF. A burger and a drink come to around 5,000–8,000 HUF per person.
The terrace
Youthful and buzzing, best with friends, but good for families during the day too, with a play corner. Dogs welcome. Park from the Római út side.
Good to know
Seasonal, roughly April to the end of September, and according to the website it currently only opens on Fridays and Saturdays. No table bookings. Expect waits when busy; some find the prices high, and the evening party isn’t for everyone.
Who it’s for
Groups of friends after a relaxed Badacsony afternoon that easily slides into the evening. Come in the afternoon if you want to eat in peace.
The person behind the place
From a Balaton love story
The Laposa family story began with a Balaton romance: Bence's parents met in 1978, which led to a shared life, a press house in Badacsony and then an ever-growing estate. Bence Laposa carries on that family heritage, and frissTerasz is the estate's relaxed summer face.
