Vitorlás is in Balatonlelle at Köztársaság utca 14, a few minutes’ walk from the centre. It opened in 1999 as a classic Hungarian restaurant and gradually turned into a bistro over the years. The old favourites stayed, but more modern, more precisely composed dishes joined them. You don’t see the water, but the fish lover, the meat eater and the light eater at one table will all be well fed.
From fish soup to beef cheek
There are several versions of halászlé (fish soup): with catfish fillet, with thin noodles, and with offal, between 3,490 and 3,990 HUF. The catfish paprikash comes here with layered cottage-cheese pasta and crispy bacon (5,990 HUF), and the zander in panko crumbs with rémoulade. For meat, the BBQ ribs are the big favourite, in a portion so big that even a hungry teenager couldn’t finish it; red-wine beef cheek with napkin dumpling is 6,990 HUF.
The starters show the bistro line: duck liver terrine with Tokaji aszú gel and marinated plum, beef tartare, pan-fried prawns. Meat-free there’s grilled goat’s cheese with quinoa salad and a vegan mushroom consommé. For dessert, quark dumplings with plum ragout. In the evening there’s Neapolitan pizza too. When we checked, a main with a drink was 7,000–12,000 HUF.
The place
A homely, quietly elegant interior with a garden alongside. Open all year, every day from 11:30. There’s a kids’ menu and high chairs, and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Good to know
In summer it’s hard to get a table without booking. Prices are at a proper restaurant level, and some guests feel certain portions have got smaller. In 2026 there was also some criticism of the service. One 2024 guest criticised how the fish in the fish soup was cut.
Who it’s for
Anyone who wants a proper Hungarian or more modern dinner at a year-round place in Lelle, without the waterfront surcharge. You can’t go wrong with the catfish paprikash.
Worth a taste
Catfish paprikash with layered cottage-cheese pasta
Tender catfish in paprika sauce with layered cottage-cheese pasta and crispy bacon. 5,990 HUF when we checked.

For two, start with the duck liver terrine, then catfish paprikash and beef cheek, and finish with quark dumplings and plum ragout. Check the chef's daily special too. Pizza from 18:00 on weekdays, all day at weekends.
