LIDO is in Balatonlelle at the start of Móló sétány, close to the lakeside promenade and the harbour. It started as a café and is now a restaurant and wine bar: coffee and breakfast in the morning, a proper kitchen during the day and in the evening, with wine and cocktails alongside.
From morning to evening
In the morning, a classic breakfast: fried eggs, sausages, toast, salad. Later come more serious plates: beef cheek with porcini sauce and croquettes, squid-ink pasta with seafood and prawns, schnitzel with tomato spaghetti and parmesan. The kitchen moves between Hungarian and Mediterranean.
The wine list
LIDO takes its wine bar side seriously, and the list is almost entirely from the south shore of Balaton. On the shelf: Konyári rosé and Loliense, Laposa Friss Olaszrizling, Ikon Irsai Olivér, Garamvári Pinot Gris, Bujdosó Csomó Sauvignon Blanc. Alongside them, spritzes and cocktails.
Good to know
At the time of research it was open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 to 22:00 and closed on Monday. This may change out of season, so check their Facebook page for current hours. The terrace is covered, so you can sit outside in the rain too.
Who it is for
For anyone in Lelle who wants breakfast by the pier, or a proper dinner in the evening with a glass of South Balaton wine.
Worth a taste
Beef cheek with porcini sauce
Slow-braised beef cheek, creamy mushroom sauce, crisp croquettes.
Local tip
Wine from the area
Ask for a recommendation from the South Balaton bottles; the list is built around them.
