Beside Balatonmáriafürdő’s harbour, Port Étterem is far more than a seasonal waterfront stop: it is developing a year-round identity through contemporary Hungarian cooking and striking yet easy-to-understand dishes. It works equally well for a family lunch, a special dinner or a dedicated Balaton culinary outing.
The menu refreshes Hungarian classics with contemporary techniques and ingredients from southern Balaton. Skin-seared pike-perch comes with beurre blanc and dill potato dumplings; alongside goulash and beef broth are mains such as egg-stuffed beef meatloaf with a creamy hunter-style vegetable sauce, confit duck leg and an Angus burger. Vegetarians have roasted cauliflower and wild-mushroom risotto to choose from.
The dessert counter deserves particular attention: modern, French-inspired pastries use premium ingredients and precise textures. Several southern Balaton wineries feature on the wine list, including Bujdosó, Kislaki and Légli, making a local pairing easy to find.
Port’s professional achievements are notable too: it joined Gault&Millau’s chef’s-hat restaurants in 2025 and previously earned a podium place in the Beach Dish of the Year competition. The nearby harbour and the guesthouse’s peaceful surroundings give it a Balaton character, while the kitchen goes well beyond the typical beach-restaurant formula.
An important practical detail: the striking Rooftop Bar is currently available only for private events; regular dining takes place in the restaurant. The current autumn schedule is Friday to Sunday, so book ahead, particularly for weekend dinner.
