Káli Fecske is in Salföld, on Templom utca, next to the Salföld Major. The ruins of the village’s former school were restored, and since May 2023 it has been a restaurant and cultural centre. The old pines, the chestnut tree and the other trees were kept and the building was designed around them; swallows nest by the outdoor stage. It also appears in the 2025 Gault&Millau guide.
Homely cooking from local produce
The kitchen is led by László Gyurecska, who is also a cookery instructor. They cook meat and vegetarian dishes from fresh local produce, including dishes for children. The menu has featured a caprese bagel with buffalo mozzarella, spinach risotto with salmon fillet, Angus sirloin with Dijon mustard sauce and truffle grilled potatoes, and for dessert curd dumplings with cinnamon-honey Greek yoghurt. In autumn they hold goose days, from starter to dessert.
Grill garden, ice cream, events
On the grill terrace there is langalló and grilled sausages, craft beers and cocktails, and to the right of the entrance an ice cream counter, with dairy-free ice cream too. From May to October there is theatre, concerts, a film club, exhibitions and children’s programmes, and a jazz festival in autumn.
Good to know
From 1 October it is open Friday and Saturday 11:30–22:00 and Sunday 11:30–18:00, closed Monday to Thursday. Dogs are welcome on a lead on the first terrace, so that children can play safely in the inner courtyard.
Who it is for
For families and food trippers who want lunch in a garden full of events in the Káli Basin, followed by a walk around the village.
