Carpaccio has been one of Alsóörs’s most reliable Italian addresses for almost thirty-five years. Kárpáti Zsolt discovered Italy as a long-distance runner, then brought home the kind of trattoria atmosphere where hospitality is personal and dishes do not try to outshine their ingredients. That friendly, family-like rhythm still gives the garden on Szent István utca its strength.
The kitchen has Italian foundations but goes well beyond pizza and pasta: fresh seafood, shellfish, octopus, fish, veal and seasonal dishes regularly appear on the specials board. Alongside beef fillet carpaccio, ossobuco and seafood pasta, a strong wine list with plenty of Italian and Balaton labels brings the evening together. Portions are generous and full of flavour — honest trattoria cooking rather than delicate decoration.
Come hungry and leave yourself time. The terrace works well for a family lunch, while evenings are more about wine and a long dinner. Carpaccio is no fashionable newcomer but a dependable place to return to: booking by phone is recommended for weekends throughout the year.

The person behind the place
The man who found Italy through running
Kárpáti Zsolt spent years in Italy as a long-distance runner before bringing the natural hospitality and cooking of its trattorias home to Alsóörs. He and his wife Zsuzsanna built Carpaccio together; almost thirty-five years later, their personal presence still defines the restaurant.
