Káli Art Inn is in Köveskál at Fő utca 8, in one of the prettiest villages of the Káli Basin. A guesthouse and restaurant with a well-kept country garden, white tablecloths, floral porcelain and antique furniture. You don’t drop in here between two programmes: breakfast or dinner is the programme.

Breakfast and dinner

The Káli breakfast is served daily from 8 to 11: local cow’s, goat’s and sheep’s cheeses, hams, salamis, fresh pastries, homemade yoghurt with seasonal fruit, a made-to-order omelette and specialty coffee. To be eaten slowly, picking and choosing.

From Thursday to Saturday evening there’s a four-course seasonal dinner drawing on Hungarian cooking and local ingredients, with a modern eye. It costs 22,300 HUF per person, including mineral water and coffee or tea. Vegetarian and other special menus are made by prior arrangement.

The garden

Romantic, calm, elegant, for a long weekend or a leisurely breakfast with friends. There’s a playground for hotel guests.

Good to know

As a non-resident, arrange breakfast and dinner in advance, subject to availability. Booking is required for dinner, as the kitchen preps for the number of guests. The menu is fixed and prices are premium. Pets aren’t accepted. Ask about parking in advance.

Who it’s for

Couples on a romantic Káli weekend and anyone who loves long, producer-led breakfasts.

The person behind the place

Hospitality and art

In Köveskál, Júlia Molnár and Róbert Héjja created a place where a beautifully laid table, good food, nature and art sit side by side. Besides Káli Art Inn, they also dreamed up and support the Káli Art-Park.

Local tip

Don't rush breakfast

The breakfast alone is worth a visit. For a more special evening, book the four-course dinner, and as a non-resident arrange both in advance.

What guests say

What stays with guests?

Most highlight the calm, the garden and the personal hospitality; for many the breakfast is an experience in itself. Prices and the fixed menu are the compromise.

Based on Káli Art Inn's Tripadvisor restaurant and accommodation reviews, Google reviews, Restaurant Guru's rating summary and Booking.com reviews about breakfast, dinner and staff. From hotel reviews we only used experiences relating to food, hospitality and setting. Older criticism was not automatically treated as describing the current kitchen.
