Völgyhíd Konyha & Rét is in Kőröshegy, under the M7 motorway viaduct. The view here isn’t the lake but the huge concrete arches towering above you, with a green meadow beneath. Sounds strange, but that’s exactly why it sticks. There are two parts: upstairs a glazed, panoramic bistro, downstairs on the meadow, more casual street food.
Bistro upstairs, burgers below
The bistro works with a short seasonal menu. Duck liver with hazelnut and cabbage jam (4,490 HUF), pheasant soup, veal Stefánia meatloaf with butternut squash, lemon and quail egg (7,690 HUF), salmon, and a vegan stuffed pepper. If you don’t want to choose, there are three set menus for 14,000–16,000 HUF, plus 15% service. For dessert, a pistachio and raspberry mille-feuille or a matcha „apple pie”.
Down on the meadow, the Völgyhíd burger comes with an Angus patty, bacon, cheddar and chilli relish (5,400 HUF with fries), alongside a smash burger, a goat’s cheese veggie burger and Greek flatbread. Brunch runs from 9 to 11:30: Eggs Benedict for 3,290 HUF, croissants, French toast. The wine list has local bottles, such as the Olaszrizling from neighbouring Kékajtó.
The meadow
No need to rush after lunch: you can spend a while on the grass with a coffee or lemonade. Easy with kids, babies, dogs and bikes, and the car park is big. They sometimes hold music events, and then the mood is different.
Good to know
The place closed at the end of 2023 and reopened in 2025 under new owners, so the old, much-praised dishes and chefs no longer belong here. The bistro isn’t cheap: one guest in 2026 wrote of an 18–20 thousand HUF lunch per person. Expect waits at peak times. The bistro and the meadow have different hours, and external sites show other times too, so call ahead.
Who it’s for
Anyone looking for a slightly unusual stop on the southern shore, coming off the motorway or on a bike tour. The relaxed meadow is good for families, the bistro for a more proper lunch. And seeing the bridge from below is worth a detour on its own.
Worth a taste
Veal Stefánia
With butternut squash, lemon, dill and quail egg. A lighter bistro take on a familiar dish, 7,690 HUF when we checked.
Local tip
Eat upstairs, linger below
Book a table in the bistro, then take a coffee down to the meadow after lunch. If you only have time for a quick stop, the meadow burger is plenty.
